Big Brothers Big Sisters

I have decided to apply to be a big sister! You know, the Big Brothers Big Sisters program? I am pretty sure most cities have this? But I might be making that up. Anyways, I have been in this whole self improvement mode recently and after the large cry and stay at home little breakdown I had last week, I came to the conclusion that I need a constructive way to fill my time. I am really excited about this opportunity to be a positive influence to child who needs a friend. My boss at work was a big sister, and on the board of volunteers when she lived in Myrtle Beach and we talked a little bit about what a rewarding experience it was. In case you don’t know about the program, it is set up so that volunteers will be matched with a “little” and spend for example 4 hours a month doing fun things with each other. The program is designed to give children a friend, and positive role model besides their parent or caregiver. I am really looking forward to this, and hope I will be good at it! Has anyone else had experience working with this program, and being a Big? I would love to hear about your experiences!

I gave Allison a glowing review when they called me as a reference when she applied... yet they never called her back... Hmmm hopefully my reference for The Bar exam will go better if they call! ;-) You should ask her though.
